I have been using Artlantis 6. As soon as I upgraded the batch render no longer worked, although I have been successfully using it for years on earlier versions. I asked for advice from various people but was unable to remedy the situation. I have now a new Mac, and have upgraded to sierra 10.12.6 with 40GB ram, and now have Artlantis 6.5 with the client and render manager but still neither function.
Is there a known batch render issue with MACs, up until Artlantis 6 it worked well?
Am I missing something very obvious? I consider myself an Artlantis expert after using it since v.3 but am having no luck.
In version 6.5, the Batch Render has been replaced by the Render Manager and at least one Client.
There is online help available from the Artlantis Help in the Help menu.
There is also a tutorial available at : artlantis.com/fr/tutorial/17-re … frame=true
If this does not help let me know and I will try to help you.
Best regards,
I believe I have followed every step correctly, my render manager looks like the attached, but it wont start rendering. The only thing that occurs to me is that I have not activated a network licence but didn’t believe I needed to. I have downloaded and installed the Artlantis Client application on four machines on the network including the machine with the render manager open. All machines are licensed and at least art.6 or 6.5.
The machine I use is an i7 mac with 40GB of RAM., other machines are similar ( maybe slightly less powerful )
My activity monior shows my local CPU running at 104% or there abouts. when rendering normally it will be closer to 650%
please help!!! not being able to batch render is having a dramatic effect on the business and stress levels… hopefully you have come up against this previously and can help.
According to the screenshot, the Render Manager is running fine, hence the orange dot on one of your views, and the orange dot in one of the Client.
To display the rendering preview on the right side of the Render Manager Window, you need to select the view with the orange dot (« CAM1_38 » in your screenshot).
You need only a standard licence on the machine running the Render Manager, it does not need to be a network licence.
The Client Machines do not need a licence.
Yes, according to the orange dots it is rendering but when I preview the render I simply have a black window, while the activity monitor shows the CPU working at 40% rather than the 650% i get when rendering in Artlantis. I have waited hours thinking that I am simply not patient enough but still nothing in the preview while the CPU isn’t working hard enough to be rendering. I have repeated the exercise a few times now.
What is my next move, how can I trouble shoot this?
should the Artlantis file be on the network or on my desk top?
should I then close Artlantis before opening RM?
all of our identities have spaces in the names, will this effect the RMs ability to use the network?
I am running Sierra 10.12.6
is there a limit to the size of the atlantis archive files that are sent to the RM ( 800MB) ?
The RM doesn’t crash, it just sits there doing nothing, or next to nothing.
The Artlantis files have to be on the machine running Artlantis and Render Manager, because we save the list of files to be rendered on this machine.
You should not need to close Artlantis, but you can try…
The space in the user names should not be a problem but accentuated names are a problem.
Sierra should be ok.
Did you try to render an image using the sample file installed with Artlantis ?
Can you render the image directly in Artlantis ?
Could you please attach the Render Manager and all the client logs to this post.
You can use the Render Manager « show logs » menu item from the Information menu to locate the log folder.
And the Logs menu item from the client menu:
There is no limit , the file might just take a little more time to transfer to the Client Machine, but it should be transferred only once for all the views to be rendered from the same atla file.
I’m going out of the office for the Week-end, will be back on tuesday.
Please send me the log files, I will check them on tuesday.
