I did a little Demo-Project render - not a big thing really 
my intention is not to determine any great sophisticated material settings here, but
my intention is to give an impression, with which presets, settings and preparations
you can make a day and a night scene within Render[IN]
And I hope that this is useful for you?!
So I will show you both render results with the associated settings below.
To one thing I want to point in particular - The Background Image.
When you use any image as a background within Render[IN], your render will take the resolution of this image.
If you intend a different resolution, you need to edit this image into the your desired resolution before.
