Artlantis 6.5.2.12 - AWFUL UPDATE / AWFUL SOFTWARE

Hi,
We’re a professional studio with several Artlantis licenses acquired.
Yesterday we’ve updated Artlantis to the new 6.5.2.12 update.

Sadly, Render Manager it’s no longer working as intended, renderings are highly inaccurate: bad artificial lighting, odd bright reflections on walls, missing textures, etc. Oddly enough, there’s even a completely different outcome on the final render when views are processed with Render Manager or Artlantis studio.

WTF ABVENT?

Lacking hardware specs not an issue: macOS Sierra 10.12.3, Intel Xeon E5, 16 GB RAM, AMD FirePro D500, SSD 250 GB.

Since 6.0, our trust in Abvent / Artlantis is almost inexistent now.
We cannot wait any longer, we’re seriously thinking in migrate to another software next year.

A Very Unhappy Customer.

Hi,

We are very sorry to hear about this issue, we have tested the version on OS X 10.12 and did not have the problems you seem to encounter.

Which version were you using before updating to 6.5.2.12 ?

Best regards,

Hello Camille
Before the update we were using Artlantis Studio 6.5.2.11.
All of our machines are up-to-date macOS Sierra 10.12 with similar specs I’ve listed above.

We’ve contacted the local support team in our language regarding issues with 6.0, and their answers were really unsatisfactory.
Every issue was promptly solved along the lines of: « Lighting parameter doesn’t matter. Think of lumens as potatoes, crank that number up-to 100000000000000 where needed ».

Since Artlantis 6.0, we’re working extra time to produce barely adequate renderings.
Missing features (where’s Lighting Attenuation?), Bad interior lighting even with IES files, Longer process times compared with 5.1.2.4., Unexpected crashes, etc.

Frankly, the current state of the software left us speechless.
As I mentioned above, we cannot wait Abvent indefinitely.

Regards

Hello again,

I need to clarify something: the problems you encounter with version 6.5.2.12 are the same you had with version 6.5.2.11 when you updated from version 6 or are they new with 6.5.2.12 ?

As you might know, since version 6 we use a different rendering engine then the one we were using in version 5.
We have tried to automatically update the settings of Artlantis 5 files when opening them in Artlantis 6, but it might not always work the way you wished it were… and we apologize for that, but sometimes it is impossible…

If you have some specific issues we can try to help you with them, let us know or contact the support.

Best regards,

Make sure you have also installed the latest plugin before you export from you modeling software. Everything’s is runnings ok on my side and I’m also running it on MacOS 10.12

Regards,

Juan

Hi Juan
We’re using ARCHICAD 20 to Artlantis 6.5 plugin.

OMG… THANK GOODNESS for this post. I rendered the exact same file on two different days. The latest update produced a completely inferior rendering. I’m attaching two images so that you can see the marked difference. Yep… you guessed it… One was done BEFORE that awful update to 6.5.2.12. Abvent… do you know HOW MANY HOURS were wasted trying to work out what happened. I am so utterly disappointed in Artlantis. It used to be my go to rendering software and you have killed it… massacred it in fact.

I am on a Mac Sierra 10.12.4

There is never any support for this product.

Hi,

You are saying the renderings with version 6.5.2.12 are inferior to the ones with version 6.5.2.11, but you uploaded two very different images, so it is difficult to tell…
The second one seems to be a crop rendering, is that the case ?
Did you render the images with Artlantis or with the Render Manager ?
Because one of the bugs that was fixed in 6.5.2.12 is that the Render Manager was not rendering the Ambiant Occlusion and I saw in a different post that you have set the Ambiant occlusion to its maximum size value of 100cm and intensity 1, this might explain the difference in rendering if you are using Render Manager.

Best regards,
